Spiritual Growth: How is your prayer life?

"The reality is, my prayers don't change God. But, I am convinced prayer changes me. Praying boldly boots me out of that stale place of religious habit into authentic connection with God Himself." - Lysa TerKeurst

Lysa TerKeurst makes a bold statement in her quote regarding prayer. Do you agree with her thoughts regarding prayer? Is there merit in "religious habit"? What obstacles do you encounter (currently or in the past) that prevents you from engaging in "authentic connection" (for example: ability to focus or desire to engage)? I'd love to hear from you in the comments!

In the past, I really struggled in my prayer life. I know and understand the power of prayer but I often am "praying on the go" and then realizing how distracted I am once I eventually catching myself saying "oh.... I was praying and now I'm thinking of something totally random." Prayer can be tricky for a lot of us, especially busy Momma's! But don't loose heart, I have some tips for you!

First let talk about how important it is to be in the Word... We've got to be in the word so that we can check everything against scripture. The Bible serves as a test for everything that we question in life. Because the Word, I know that prayer is important. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to "Pray continually." Prayer itself is an act of worship that glorifies God and reinforces our need for Him. Prayer is important because in a moment of prayer, we are separating ourselves from the world and looking directly to Christ. Prayer reveals to us the heart of God and His wisdom. James 1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

Why is it important to be in worship?

Why is it important to be in the Word?

Why is it important to be in prayer?

In order to grow spiritually we have three things we need to balance.... We need to be in worship, be in The Word, and be in prayer. Like this three legged stool, it cannot stand without one of those legs. We need ALL THREE IN ORDER TO GROW SPIRITUALLY!

While worship and reading God's word may come easily, prayer might not.... so I want to give you 4 tools that you can use to build up your prayer life.... Click on the links below to go to each of these 4 tools.

I look forward to helping you discover this new way of praying called Visual Prayer. If you have any questions, please reach out to me. I'd be honored to join you in prayer, sweet friend!
